Your Backpack

Let’s imagine you are going on a hiking trip.
You have a giant backpack stuffed to the brim with things other people packed for you that you ‘might’ need.
You pick up your backpack ready to start your trek.
You notice the weight of the backpack, but you don’t think anything about it.
As you’re walking the pack becomes a little heavier and it slows you down.
Halfway through your hike, you’re unable to continue on because your pack is too heavy and it’s draining all of your energy to carry it up the mountain.
So you stop for a break.
You open the pack and begin to look through the contents that have been packed for you.
What is in there?
You may be surprised by some of the stuff that is in there.
Some of the items may not serve you at all.
Leave them there now on the dirt covered ground.
Now you re-pack your backpack with only the items that serve you, serve your journey, and serve your purpose.
This is your pack, no one else’s.
Now, rise up.
Grab your backpack.
Notice how much lighter your pack feels on your back, how much easier it is to move your body.
You begin your hike again, effortlessly moving forward, up the path ahead.

How often are we all going through life with a pack, weighing down our backs, and they have been packed by someone else?
How often are we stopping to look and see what has been packed?
It doesn’t serve us to carry around other people’s projections onto us.
Others are not walking on our path.
Our journeys may cross, but no one of us have had the exact same paths.
We must honor each person as they pop up in our lives.
Each one is mirroring a piece of us back to our Selves.
What is this person showing you?
What lesson is being presented to you?
Sometimes the lesson that comes up is one we have seen many times. Same lesson, different circumstances, or different people.
The Universe is giving you a test.
Will you pass the test again?
Will you graduate to a new level of learning?
We never stop learning, growing, being tested.
It’s simply us moving on to a new lesson that we have signed up to learn.
